What is a Rube Goldberg?
a Rube Goldberg machine is a machine that uses a chain reaction to accomplish a simple task for example turning off the lights or pouring a glass of water. These machines are named after a cartoonist and inventor of these contraptions but over the years the contraptions have expanded and have been more difficult.
My Machine
My Rube Goldberg was a group effort. we had the option to work in groups of two or four which was a lot more challenging than expected. If we were to work in a group of two there was a minimum of 8 conversions of energy but in our group of 4 we had to accomplish 12 which was no easy task. when we started planning there was some conflict because there were just so many ideas at once but we made it work. Our original plan was a little out of reach for our constricted time of one week but we made it work- for the most part. below you can see pictures of our machine and blueprints for it as well.
Here is our rube Goldberg almost finished. As you can see it is following our blueprint for the most part. There were a lot of bumps along the road to building this machine. with a lot of teamwork, problem solving and help form our teacher dawn we got it to work-well most of it- the other part of our machine seen in the blueprint was not finished in time to be attached but it still worked by its self. Summary
in conclusion I think our team did not have enough time to create this amazing machine but if we did it would be nothing short of amazing. With the help form our peers an teacher we made most of our machine a reality and what was accomplished was extraordinary. so thank you to all of my peers and teachers that helped make this a reality. It was our groups focus, precision and attention to detail that made this machine work.
