Below you will see my protest art that I have created for English class. This Art piece is a series of images. The first image shows a woman before getting an abortion and the pain she is going through. The second photo is a woman during her abortion where she is scared and uncertain and the last photo is a woman after her abortion where she gets her life back and feels free.

Fighting for Freedom
Traditionally a woman is quiet and reserved, she is supposed to keep to herself and to be seen not heard. She does not voice her opinions and lives to serve her husband. While this ideology is extremely outdated, it is and for the most part, always will be implemented in our society. The one freedom we have is what we do with our bodies. It is our right to get to decide what happens to us. And once again, following years of oppression and sexism, our right is trying to be taken away from us.
Abortion. A concept that many find barbaric and in some parts of the world, illegal. Even the word makes most uncomfortable. The point of this paper is to make you uncomfortable. To challenge what you believe so that you are forced to think, and forced to challenge the sexist ideologies that have been drilled into our heads since birth. Women should not have to risk their lives to undergo a safe abortion but the sad truth is that many do. And even more, women face the idea that they may have to have an unsterilized and life threatening abortion.
17. This seemingly insignificant number is the number of countries where abortion is illegal with absolutely no exceptions. And there are even more countries where abortion requires spousal consent. A woman's right to what she does with the body she developed by herself should not include the input of a man. Women all over the globe are losing their lives because they do not have access to a healthcare system that fights for their rights.
Although I have not had an abortion myself, I have seen first hand what women have to go through to get one. Terminating a pregnancy is not an easy decision but it should be a decision nonetheless. A woman's right to decide what she does with her body shouldn't even be a topic that is being discussed.
For my art piece, I want to compose a series of drawings of a woman before, during and after the process of having an abortion. I believe this will be impactful because it will show the emotions that women go through to get this procedure. I will be posting this on my DP as my way of displaying the at piece because it is easily accessible and will reach more people. My Digital Portfolio is a place where people from all over the world can congregate to enjoy and look at my work. I have been working on my DP for many years and I believe that it is very professional and a good option to display my work.
